The North Oakland Republican Club held a highly successful forum about the future of the Republican Party on January 22, 2009. Four panelists from different areas of the state and with diverse backgrounds joined us to discuss a winning strategy for our party going forward. The panelists were Akindele Akinyemi, Dennis Lennox, Randall Thompson, and Greg McNeilly. Each gentleman gave a 5-minute opening presentation to kick-off what turned into an extremely spirited and productive event. Good opinions, thoughts, and ideas were presented by both the panelists and the audience members. Topics included immigration, inclusion of minorities, taxes, winning elections, and education.
NORC was thrilled to also welcome Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox. The attorney general spoke to the audience briefly before taking a seat and spending the whole evening with us. Also in attendance were Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard, Oakland County Republican Party Chairman David Law, former State House Majority Leader Craig DeRoche, State Rep. Eileen Kowall, and numerous current and former elected officials.
