NORC February Meeting
Thursday, February 26, 2009
NORC was thrilled to host a well attended event in spite of a thunderstorm on February 26. The fantastic night started off with an invocation by Rev. Daniel Wine of the Williams Lake Church of the Nazarene.
There is no one better known, or respected, in Oakland County than County Executive L. Brooks Patterson and we were honored to have him as our special guest. Mr. Patterson once again proved why Lansing needs leadership such as the kind he and others have provided in Oakland County. The county has been doing an incredible job of budgeting two years in advance, but Patterson announced that Oakland County will now start to budget for three years ahead. If only Lansing and Washington, D.C. could be that responsible!
Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop was expected to address NORC but the senator’s flight home from Washington, D.C. on behalf of the Michigan people was delayed. Graciously stepping in for Senator Bishop was his colleague, State Senator John Pappageorge from Troy. Senator Pappageorge gave a truthful, sobering explanation of what is happening in Lansing and to the people of Michigan. He spoke of hope though, and how we can turn the state's troubles around properly.
The NORC members and guests in attendance left the meeting excited and more determined than ever to defeat the liberal policies that have greatly harmed Michigan, and are doing a serious disservice to much of our great country. Thank you Rev. Wine, County Executive Patterson, and Senator Pappageorge!
