NORC March Meeting
March 27, 2008

The North Oakland Republican Club (NORC) had a fantastic meeting on March 27, 2008 with two excellent guests and an opening like we have never experienced before. We were led in the Pledge of Allegiance and an incredible rendition of God Bless America by Serena and Chloe, granddaughters of Jim Thienel (see video below.)

Michigan State Rep. Fulton Sheen and Michigan Director of Americans for Prosperity Amy Hagerstrom gave very informative presentations about taxation, government reform, and government accountability in Michigan. Rep. Sheen is front and center in the effort to have the Michigan Fair Tax passed (MI Fair Tax). The MI Fair Tax would replace the state income tax system and base taxation on personal spending habits.

Rep. Sheen and Ms. Hagerstrom both gave brief talks and then had a productive question and answer period with the audience.

Long-time NORC members Mike and Eileen Kowall became the first recipients of the NORC lapel pin for their involvement in NORC's progress and success.
