He is currently serving the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada as its Vice President and is the immediate past Chairman of the William and Marie Carl's Family YMCA Board of Directors.

In 1989, he was recognized by the Michigan Municipal Treasurers Association (MMTA) as its first recipient of the Professional Recognition in Municipal Excellence (P.R.I.M.E.) Award.

Pat has been a Certified Public Finance Administrator (CPFA) since 1983, and holds a Level II Assessors certification. He also has an Associates Degree in Computer Science from Oakland Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Ferris State University.
